Ole aina iloisella päällä, kuin koira liukkaalla jäällä, 2025
This is a study, but also a kind of letter. To Time, to Architecture, to a Mother, and from a Mother to her Daughter. It is an attempt to see the world as it is, and as it was once hoped to be.
The work is rooted in friendship books from the 1950s, once belonging to my mother. The wishes inscribed in those handwritten pages reflect the era’s rosy belief in a good life: in love, in work, in happiness. The books came into my possession when my mother was 78 years old, a moment when the gaze toward the past had already been layered with experience and longing.
From this emerged a narrative that is not linear but stratified.
